Do you like beer? If so, then more than 150 craft brews from 50 different breweries await your taste buds at the second annual Squamish Beer Festival at O’Siyam Pavillion Park on July 9.
“The Squamish Beer Festival is an annual celebration of craft beer culture in the heart of downtown Squamish,” said event manager Kelly Farrell. “It features some of the best brews from B.C., North America and abroad. Some 50 craft breweries and pubs will join us to showcase their latest beer and cider releases alongside music and local food trucks.”
The fest has grown since last year, according to event producer Jean-Philippe Tondreau.
“As 2015 was our inaugural event, we have fine-tuned things to make it even bigger and better in 2016,” he said. “This year we are adding more breweries, more food and more games. Plus, we have a few extra things up our sleeve that we can’t wait to share.”
He said the beer festival is a perfect fit for Squamish.
“Squamish residents know their beer, and we know how to have a good time,” he said. “We received many comments last year from breweries saying that our residents are extremely craft beer-savvy. Plus, our town is growing and the need for more events and festivals is as well. It was perfect timing to launch the beer festival last year as we’re confident that it’s an event that will not only stay relevant in years to come, but grow and expand.”
Farrell agreed wholeheartedly.
“We want people to have a good time, first and foremost,” she said. “For us, it’s all about the overall experience. The event is young and we are doing our best to deliver a first-class event that people want to attend year after year, especially as it grows. It’s all about planning an organized, seamless and safe event that is a great experience for both the participants and the guests.”
Tondreau said he’s looking forward to watching people discover new craft beers at the festival.
“I think it’s the absolute best to see people tasting and enjoying a bunch of new beers with friends and having fun amidst beautiful scenery,” he said. “Our goal is to promote craft beer and help smaller breweries to get discovered here in Squamish and beyond. Plus, we feel that Squamish is a pretty awesome place and we’re excited for visitors to experience what we get to see every day. It will be the event of the summer!”
The Squamish Beer Festival will be held July 9 from 2 to 8 p.m. at O’Siyam Pavillion Park on Cleveland Avenue in downtown Squamish. Ticket sales began on April 15. For more information, go to squamishbeerfestival.com.
